The Galileo Project by Avi Loeb is an interesting foray into the alien kingdom. No, we are not making it up; it is for real that scientists are actively invested in discovering a parallel alien civilization somewhere in outer space. And so when the moment is rife with advanced space missions and curiosity of advanced life forms, the Israeli astrophysicist and Professor Avi Loeb at Harvard University conceived the Galileo Project with substantial financial backing from the aliens private investors.
Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb believes in a parallel universe inhabited by aliens, and his belief is based on an interstellar object called Oumuamua. Oumuamua was noticed for the first time in the year 2017. Based on astronomical observations, Oumuamua turned out to has got highly anomalous properties that defy well-understood natural explanations.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), in consultation with the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF), has submitted an intelligence assessment of an Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP). This has become the premise for a renewed investigation into alien civilization and technology that has to be determined systematically, scientifically and transparently.
Whether The Galileo Project will be another mousetrap for private investors trying to whitewash their wealth is unknown. Still, speculations are strong given the absurdity of parallel existence, let alone an advanced alien tribe that builds technology. But here, Avi Loeb and his collaborators believe in Oumuamua and the probability of similar alien technology, which they are committed to discovering via The Galileo Project.
According to Avi Loeb, past scientific observations have revealed how many stars host Earth-like planets known as the “Exoplanets.” Loeb thinks that these “exoplanets” might, in turn, host the extraterrestrials. In fact, the Oumuamua that tumbled through our solar system was a skinny object about 400 meters long of speed and trajectory not familiar to our solar system. Oumuamua escaped investigations as it was on the hop.
While many scientists ridiculed the matter and dismissed it for unreal, some imagined Oumuamua to be a spacecraft engineered by the extraterrestrial community. Some scientists like Loeb and the team opined not to conclude anything until all investigations are complete and no deterministic information is established. And so, Loeb and the team have geared up to investigate extraterrestrial life and their technology in The Galileo Project.
In addition to the above speculations and observations, in June, the Office of the US Director of National Intelligence announced military reports of UFOs, or UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena). As per the US Military Report, some UAPs represent physical objects received across multiple sensors with no known explanation. All chances of meteorological phenomena, faulty instruments, weather balloons, or clandestine military experiments have been ruled out.
Loeb and the team do not agree that anybody else but scientists should investigate the possibility of a parallel civilization in some other planetary system. The truth of Oumuamua or UAPs can only be established by reliable data, which is not the subject of any military organization or politician. Clearly, as per the US report, there’s no absolute technology at their disposal to determine the identification of UAPs.
It is interesting how a widespread imagination of humankind is rolling private and academic funding like a lint roller with no definite outcome as of yet. On the one hand, we see SETI (Search for Extra-terrestrial Intelligence) projects Project Phoenix and Breakthrough Listen use the world’s largest telescopes to monitor signals from extraterrestrial intelligence; on the other, obscure images flood the Internet misinforming the existence of an extraterrestrial inhabitation.
Is The Galileo Project by Avi Loeb, as outlined in the project definition, imposes a conviction on readers that the possibility of ETs and Extraterrestrial Technological Civilizations (ETCs) can no more be dismissed to the comfort of established beliefs and culture that do not talk about a parallel universe. The Galileo Project employs scientific methods of unbiased, empirical inquiry to dare humanity to look beyond the lens of limited belief.
Avi Loeb is confident that the chances of failure of The Galileo Project are highly unlikely given so many accounts of alien experiences not known to the world’s intelligent communities. The Galileo Project has committed to sharing data publicly through peer-reviewed journals. For project insights to be publicly shared, The Galileo Project will exclude classified military data despite its potential as strong research material.
