Jio Air Fiber and Jio Fiber Post Paid: Predatory Pricing PolicyIs Jio Fiber Advance Postpaid Rental really a scam? What is happening with Reliance Jio Internet connection and hidden charges? What you must be aware of before deciding to be a loyal user of Reliance Jio Fiber Postpaid just for the discounts they project when paid in advance? This news concerns all Indians using Jio Internet services.

After a lavish out-of-the-world wedding extravaganza of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, it seems Mukesh Ambani has sly plans of recovering every penny. While he reserves the decision to spend his personal wealth the way he wants, it is imperative for the middle income Indian to understand how Reliance is deceiving the Indians in interesting ways serving up a great case study for the interested.

First: As a Jio Fiber user when you are due making a payment on the Reliance Jio app, be careful and attentive despite your inattention, business, depression, anything, because here is where they push you to a sinkhole. A little absent-mindedness leads you to quick checkout under the assumption that you are paying the regular due. It is only on payment you actually see the amount is not the usual 699 or 899 but the whole annual Jio Fiber Advance Postpaid Rental payment. You aren’t prepared for this but you also have no way and thus you console yourself and move on.

Second: You realize you have to relocate and you call up Jio Fiber customer service. After a long wait, someone answers the call and you ask if they can help you relocate. For formality, they verify you for your registered information, waste over minimum 10 minutes (consider 5-min delivery window of Zepto, BBNow, Swiggy Instamart, and Zomato‘s Blinkit) to inform you that you will have to get a new connection on the same name and number to get the available Jio Fiber Advance Postpaid Rental funds as a coupon credit.

Third: You are clueless about the process and inquire further. They say they have forwarded you the process to register for a new connection. Now you switch to the forwarded message and figure out that it is a Jio Air Fiber promotion and you get hyper given you have 6 months’ advance already paid up. You speak to the customer service representative and they reconfirm the process. You have to get a new Jio Air Fiber connection and then after a month, they will credit the available Jio Fiber Advance Postpaid Rental funds as a coupon credit. You see the information you received first and the second time they are shifting tectonic plates. You disconnect.

Fourth: Now you call Jio Air Fiber installation team and learn about their offer, which is no installation fees if you pay in advance of 3, 6, and 12 months. You inform them that you are an existing user of Jio Fiber but they clarify that your existing subscription has nothing to do with your new connection. You will receive no credit whatsoever. They further continue to push you for the new subscription of Jio Air Fiber explaining how it operates wireless.

Fifth: You are frustrated and may use social media to voice your concern but as usual they will ask you to talk in message only to learn

“we are here to assist you. Please be informed that you are on Postpaid Advance Rental Plan which is not refundable in case you disconnect this connection right now. You will get a refund of the Security Deposit if paid, which is refundable on termination of your connection.”

Most of their plans do not require security deposit as they promote free installation for advanced subscription.

You see the catch?

It is important for you to know that Jio Payment App mistakes are designed for mistakes. It is a well-thought-out design trap aimed at anxious Internet users who will make payment in a rush and even authenticate the payment via their credit cards only to take notice of just the amount, which will then reflect as total advanced payment. Even after the total advance payment is made, you will notice prompts for future advance payments. This is payment psychology for you to take note. They do not even advertise the disclaimer of no refund when pushing the payment prompt under your rushed fingertip.

Well, your reason may not be to shift or relocate and you can see into the future no chances of relocation and so you might not be much concerned at the moment but what if you get sick and tired of the service itself? It is not under your control. You may find Tata or your local cable operator giving good reliable service and you might want to switch but switching would mean cancellation and you expecting a refund and that will not happen. You will not get any refund.

Companies like Jio take advantage of the poor consumer protection in India. They leverage the culture of victim shaming. A 6-month Jio Fiber Postpaid subscription or Jio Air Fiber Postpaid is the fee for a degree from IGNOU, a medical diagnosis, therapy, a month’s rent, a security man’s monthly salary, and so much more. Can you think of a deduction of 5-6 thousand from your salary? So, think before you take the leap. So, don’t let Reliance Jio fool you, don’t succumb to their predatory pricing policy!
