US NeuroTech Startup Axoft Gets Funded for Brain Machine

Axoft, a neurotech startup, has announced the FDA breakthrough device designation for its brain-machine interface (BMI) to improve the treatment of neurological illnesses. The company raised $8M to fund pre-clinical investigations with the FDA and to scale up prototypes of its "as soft as the brain" neural implants. The Engine, a venture firm spun out of MIT that invests in early-stage Tough Tech startups, led the seed round investment. Other investors included Ab Initio Capital, Decent Capital, Alumni Ventures, Safar Partners, AIBasis, LiquidMetal VC, Taihill Venture, AMINO Capital, Blindspot Ventures, and Mintz.
